CHET BAKER - GERRY MULLIGAN QUARTET
LINE FOR LYONS
"Line for Lyons" is Gerry Mulligan's early tribute to the prominent west coast disc jockey Jimmy Lyons. The baritone saxophonist developed a fondness for his composition and re-recorded it on a number of sessions with different instrumentation. The cover of this LP was shot during a recording session at Radio Recorders Studio B in Los Angeles, 1953 and we can see Chet Baker, Larry Bunker, Gerry Mulligan and Carson Smith. On the inside we can see Chet with Mulligan at the piano in California 1952.
